So I say 'reviews' but really I'm just writing these in one go. You'll not find any formats here, no sir!
Overall I really enjoyed reading this! I had grabbed a copy from my local library, and it had a forword by a Benard Knox. In it he states that Achilles and Patroclus are in no way involved execpt for platonically (or brotherly, I don't remember exactly), which I heavily disagree with. I will stand by the fact that they were gay lovers, though we'll never know if they would have agreed with that labeling. Quick side tangent, lables are inherently limiting and overall they should not be treated as a rule that must be abided. The fight scenes were breathtakingly graphic, which I really didn't expect. I really enjoyed how harrowing it felt to have to read each soilder's names, how each death felt gorey and disgusting, really shining on how brutal wars are. I also enjoying reading the Illiad because it was a more, I guess, difficult book to read than ones I usually do. Given that I had to slow down and actually chew on the words made each one more impactful to me. Overall I would reccomend it and I would like to read again in the future!
